The Juliet Dagger Bio.
For several months, the old, dusty stages of Buffalo, New York, have been missing the open-clawed attack of PUMA, one of
the city's most promising bands. During this sonic dark age, many Buffalonians have had to spend their evenings bereft of
good, pulse-pounding music, fighting back their tears and shouting into the shadowy streets, "Wherefore art thou, rock and
roll?"
Never fear, proud residents of Western New York. The Juliet Dagger is here. Comprised of two PUMA alumni and a brand new
drummer, the no-nonsense trio's brand of crisp, melodic punk rock should be enough to perk the ears of any rock junkie. Marked
by converging musical backgrounds, cultish followings, a handful of lineup changes, a broken pelvis and the tragic cancellation
of Home Improvement, The Juliet Dagger is the result of years of long rehearsals, guitar-string blisters, shattered sticks
and 2 a.m. pro bono gigs.
In 1999, while playing with her critically acclaimed group Blue Bullet Skater, guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Erin Roberts
started writing songs to accompany her vision of what she calls "a kick-ass girl band." After finding a bassist and drummer,
Erin was set to pursue her dreams, only to break her pelvis while snowboarding. After her three-month recovery period, Erin's
band was once again without a bassist. Luckily, her friend Leisha Gray joined the fold, and PUMA was formed. For about a year,
this girl band successfully kicked ass, unleashing a stripped-down blend of chugging power chords, toe-tappin' melodies and
fiery vocal sneers.
After the departure of PUMA's drummer, the two remaining members decided to regroup, enlisting the talents of Josh Heatley
, formerly of The Pavers. The trio clicked on a different musical plane, and the PUMA moniker was abandoned for The Juliet
Dagger, a name that packs a biting dramatic punch. When listening to TJD's music, and watching them perform live, you'll be
reminded not of Romeo's star-crossed lover, but of the weapon itself - sharp, glistening and deadly.
Fans of PUMA and pure, unadulterated rock n' roll will undoubtedly take a shine to The Juliet Dagger. If you don't, TJD's
gonna pop a Capulet in yo ass.
